William took his first trip to the fair this weekend. We started the day with the pony ride. William has been intrigued by horses lately. He wants one for the backyard. We'll, that definitely isn't going to happen so, a pony ride was the next best thing. After the ride, he needed a hat to be an official cowboy. He is so handsome in his hat. Then, William's eye was caught by the tugboat ride and he had to get on the boat. Afterwards we rode the Ferris Wheel and some jerky break-your-neck- ride. After the break-your-neck ride William said "that hurt me". We then headed to the kiddie section. William was very excited to drive the trucks on the track--he did this one twice. Then, he rode the carousel. After that we did this gravity jump thing. William was put in a harness and then lifted up by some sort of hydraulic bungee cords to an inflated trampoline. He was starting to jump and get into the swing of things when he all of a sudden went as high as the bungee could take him--about 25 feet--where he stayed for about 5 minutes. Supposedly, one of the undereducated, two-hours off the bottle carnies left some valve open. William was very brave and didn't appear concerned by his unusually high situation. After that fiasco, William was insistent on the bumper cars--I gladly took him. In between the rides, William played a few games and won some stuffed animals. Next we hit the water in a paddle boats; William had fun controlling the direction the boat went. And, finally, we wrapped up the day watching the barrel races--this was a huge hit for both William and Lauren (Finally, something for Lauren to enjoy. While William was enjoying the fair, Lauren was tooling around in her stroller with Grandma.) Not only did they enjoy the racing horses but, they also enjoyed the tractors smoothing the arena dirt back out.
