Children at play

We had some fun playtime in the yard the other day and this time I actually had my camera with a charged battery.
This is William putting on his stroller racing gear. William's stroller race starts on one end of the yard and goes all the way to the other end then to the middle. At that point, he picks the stroller up and throws it as far as he can followed by throwing himself on the ground. I don't know why he needed Lauren's too small hat--boy's like costumes.
you can see by his face this is a very serious race.
And he's off...
Time for the toss!

Zoe is still around and still loves soccer. I thought William might like to play soccer with Zoe since he is now learning to play soccer. But, nothing could detract from his stroller racing. Lauren tried to play with Zoe but Zoe was less than nice to Lauren. Zoe can be a little protective over her ball.
Lauren took a time out to relax in the dump truck. Little girls like dump trucks too.

Lauren in the mirror

This little girl does not miss a chance to play in the mirror and, if she is lucky, in the running faucet. She'll stand there forever just talking, brushing her hair, or brushing her teeth. She also likes opening the drawers and throwing things out until she finds something she wants to hold onto.
I just laugh and laugh at this video. It was like she suddenly discovered she could see me in two places.

Do I take enough pictures of my children sleeping?

This was especially funny to me. I laid Lauren down beside William; then, she flipped around and finally settled laying across his legs. Neither one of them was bothered by the awkward position

William was very sick this night. He had a 103 degree fever and a very strep throaty looking throat. So, on this one and only occasion, he was allowed to watch a movie in bed. He watched Star Wars Episode 1 and fell asleep just like this. What a sweet boy!

Naked Chef?

Every mother of an energetic toddler knows that they love to help. And while their "helping" can make things a little bit messier and more difficult for you, it can save from later meltdowns and some, not so proud, "mommy dearest" moments later.

And so, William helped me make Mac & Cheese.

#1 William

William had his first soccer practice tonight. The practice went mostly well. He, at moments, lost interest but, his coach really helped to encourage him to get back into practice--overall it was a success. They worked on stopping the ball with their toe and foot, dribbling, kicking in a straight line, and throwing the soccer ball correctly. The part William lost interest in was practicing stopping the ball with his toe and foot--that was not his favorite.

Practicing the soccer throw. The coach had them throw the ball on his head and knock him over. William LOVED this part and couldn't wait for his turn to come around again.
